Tree removal 2. Tree trimming and pruning 3. Stump removal/grinding 4. Bracing and Cabling questionable trees 5. Treatment of sick trees 6. Lot clearing / Brush removal 7. Storm damage Most people want to know, "How much does it cost to cut down a tree?" It's going to depend on a few factors. 1. Size and type of tree. 2. Location on the property. Is it easy to access or are there some hazards? Utility lines, structures, or anything else near the tree can complicate the process. 3. Is the tree damaged? Often split or dead trees can make it more dangerous and challenging to work on. Our crew safety is our number one priority. That is why we offer a 100% free estimate. Removing a tree can often times be really fun, but there are instances where it can be quite tricky and dangerous, as mentioned a few lines above. You've heard the saying, "there is more than one way to skin a cat". That lies true in removing a tree. Some of the ways to remove a tree include 1. Bucket truck / aerial lift This is probably the most common way. It's usually the safest and fastest for a standard, low hazard removal. Bucket trucks and aerial lifts range in many different shapes and sizes. Usually there will be one person in the bucket operating it, while a few groundsman work below. Saws, ropes, slings, wraps, and many other tools are used to safely piece down a tree. Having an experienced crew can make all the difference. These large machines can have their drawbacks, however. They can cause damage to yards, especially if the ground is soft and wet. This can cause ruts and divots which can be problematic. Also, overhead utility lines, structures, tight spaces like alleyways or easements can limit whether you're able to access a certain area. Sloping topography can be a big issue, with the aerial lifts and bucket trucks needing fairly flat surfaces to operate safely on. Many mountainous jobs, like tree removals in Brian Head Utah can pose different challenges. The uneven terrain and steep hillsides make things tricky, but there is always a solution. All of these issues lead us to why the next option can come in handy. 2. Skilled professional tree climber A proficient tree climber can make the impossible jobs, possible. Using harnesses, saddles, ropes, and a wide variety of different fancy tools, it's like they become highly skilled monkeys. One of the coolest things to watch is a dialed in climber. Most of our customers can't believe what they're able to do dozens and dozens of feet in the air. A lot of times in tricky areas with hazards all around. There are many risks when it comes to using a climber. Their safety is priority, so we always assess if the tree and environment is safe enough for them to do their job safely. In some cases we will use a bucket truck and a climber on the same job. If it makes sense, and is the best way to go forward, we'll do whatever it takes. Many of the aspen and fir trees in Brian Head Utah can be safely climbed and either rigged down, or tied off and dropped by a skilled sawyer. 3. Crane This is usually used in worst case scenarios, where obstacles and the size of the tree leave us no other choice. We will use a crane for tree work in combination with either a skilled climber, or bucket truck, or both. We have to determine a few factors. Safety is number one. Next, how large does the crane need to be? How far can it extend, and how much can it lift? There is no room for error when working with a crane, so we have to make sure all of our ducks are in a row. Crane work is exhilarating to witness. Whether it's craning a massive tree over the top of a house, from the backyard to front, or watching the crane operator squeeze a giant stick on the end of his cable between tight spaces. Once in a while a crane is the only option when doing tree removal in Brian Head Utah. When trees are leaning, or too close to a structure, a crane may be the only option to get that tree out of there. Preventative maintenance can be crucial. Allowing your trees to go years (sometimes decades) without any kind of care can end up costing you in the long run. We have many customers that are on yearly, or multiple year schedules. This helps keep their trees in optimal health. We're able to notice more quickly and take action if a tree is in decline. It could be due to drought, insect infestation, borers, you name it. Plants are like people, they need their basic necessities met, and are also incline to sicknesses and injuries. For example, when we get large wind and rain storms come through our area, very often trees split. Sometimes small branches are all that break, other times it's the large limbs, or the entire tree can uproot or split in half. It depends on the type and its size and health. With that being said, damaged and broken limbs can go unnoticed high up in the canopy. They can be hung up and be a major hazard if not noticed. We've seen this many times. It can go both ways, sometimes the customer calls us after the damage has been done, and that's never a fun conversation or job. Other times with luck, we're able to catch it before anything bad happens and mitigate the problem. This leads into cabling and bracing. If you notice a split, crack, or bark peeling off of your tree, it's important to have a professional come assess the situation and come up with a plan on what to do next. Often, we're able to use cables or all-thread rods, to help secure the tree and make it safer. Unfortunately, we have use our best judgement, and that can mean the risk of leaving the tree as is, is too dangerous and would be better removed. Always keep an eye out for changes like that in your tree, if you notice something odd, contact us immediately. 435-590-4557 When it comes to pruning and trimming your trees, people often ask what's the difference? "Trimming is the process of cutting away overgrowth on plants to keep them looking neat while pruning aims to remove dead or diseased branches to maintain the plant's health." Not a lot of difference, however, two seperate purposes can be achieved. When we come out and give you your free estimate, we can go over the process and walk you through what would be best for your particular situation. We will be looking for limbs and branches that are dead, broken/damaged, crossing/rubbing on one another, infections, etc. That's where we start. After we assess that, we invision a shape and look that the tree will take on. We want optimal plant health, but also an attractive looking tree as well. If we can accomplish good health, and an aesthetically pleasant look, we've won the day. Sometimes it may take a few years to get a tree to look good again. It might take phases per say. Topping trees aren't super healthy, there are techniques like pollarding ("cut off the top and branches of (a tree) to encourage new growth at the top.") that can work, but if we can avoid it, we do. Certain trees thrive with the pollarding technique, but many don't. We also have to take into account what you, the customer wants and prefers. Often times, the property owner leaves it up to our best judgement, but sometimes their are particular people who want their trees done a specific way, usually we can always figure something out that makes both parties happy with the end result. Stump grinding. Once the main trunk of the tree is cut as low as possible, and all the material is cleaned up, we have the option of stump grinding. There are many variations of machines, but the end results is the same. Most stump grinders have a rotating cutting wheel with carbide teeth. These can grind down all shapes and sizes of stumps and roots. The benefit of stump grinding is removing any woody material down below the surface, leaving you with the option to landscape the area however you desire. Sometimes there is a catch, though. Many trees can sucker up once they're cut down. Making it necessary to poison the stump and waiting until we're confident it's dead and won't grow back before we perform the stump grinding. If the tree is already dead, or a variety of tree that doesn't sucker up afterward, we can do the grinding right then and there. Stump grinding is an additional cost. When it comes to lot and property clearing, whether it's for a dream home to be built, or you just need some space free of vegetation, we're here to help. We use a variety of tools and machines to do this effectively. We can chip up and haul off woody materials, or we can pile them on your property to be burned. It would be up to you to make sure you acquire any needed permits and it is safe to burn that time of year. Options are endless when it comes to clearing your property. We understand the stress caused during an emergency situation, we will do whatever we can to make sure we are available for you in those times of need. Trees are very unpredictable, often times there are no signs of danger, but when there is severe weather, all bets are off. Strong winds, combined with wet ground can cause trees of all shapes and sizes to uproot. Depending on where they're located on your property, it could lead to disaster. Large limbs fracturing and falling are all too common. It's not uncommon to see damage to utility lines, structures, vehicles, and other dangerous or valuable belongings.
